Laura Geller For the Love of Chocolate Cosmetic Collection

I’ve had a few bits from Laura Geller in the past, I absolutely love the french vanilla highlighter, it’s my favourite highlighter of all time. You can watch an awesome video on their website of how their baked products are made. If the price is a little higher than you would expect, you can see just how much effort goes into each one of their little powders

Anyway on to the fun stuff. I spotted this on QVC the other day and thought it was just a right bargain for the goodies you get in it. Plus its called for the love of chocolate and I do love me some chocolate so I thought why the bloody hell not!

I ordered it on the 14th at 7pm at night and it arrived this morning (16th) which is pretty quick, rather impressed. Although delivery was £4.95.

So shall we first just appreciate the absolute gorgeousness of the packaging. Its like a box of chocolates, see what they did there..with the name… for the love…oh you did? good stuff

You get 7 items in the set, it includes:

1 x Balance-n-Brighten foundation (9g)
1 x Blush-n-Brighten (4.5g) – Cherry Truffle
1 x Iconic Baked Sculpting Lipstick (3.8g) – Chocolate Raspberry
1 x Color Drenched Lip Gloss (5.5ml) in Café Au Lait
1 x 6-Shade Eyeshadow Palette (10g) in Mocha – the six shades in the palette are vanilla, creamy pink, dusky pink, mauve, chocolate and violet.
1 x Retractable Brush
1 x Eyeshadow Brush

On opening the box you get a list of all items in the box along with a card with 2 ‘looks’ that you can recreate.

I’m starting off with the two products that I was most disappointed with. The first is the eyeshadow brush.

Now this may be an absolutely amazing brush, a complete game changer for applying shadow, however as you can see below it is out of shape. Its quite dense and I’m not entirely sure that washing and trying to get it to dry in shape will work. I’ll give it a go and see what happens. Wish me luck folks.

Next up we have the gloss. This is not a dud because of the formula nor the colour as both are really lovely. The reason I do not like this at all is the smell. It smells really strongly of coffee and I am not a coffee drinker at all. I tried it on my lips and it was so strong I had to wipe it straight off. Its such a shame because its so pretty.

On a more positive note, here are some rather lovely bits.

I have already tried the foundation before, I had it in the shade porcelain, which bizarrely was too pale for me. This is the only foundation I have ever found that is too pale. Usually ivory looks orange on me.

I do like the foundation though and I still wore it (as you can see in the comparison pic below I have hit pan) I just bronzed it up a little to match me. I picked up the shade fair this time which looks like it will suit me.

The swatches below are porcelain on the left and fair on the right.

Word of warning for anyone thinking of buying this set or the foundation.. for the love of God do not drop it!

The eyeshadow palette, I just can’t even, this was just amazing. I’ve never felt such creamy shadows in my life, the swatches below are one swipe in the pan.

The only one I found to be a little less pigmented was the dark brown shade but a couple extra swipes fixes that, the other 5 shades are perfection.

They blend really nicely and there is so many looks you can do with this palette. It can take you from day to evening and it’s so small you can pop it in your bag and take it with you for touch ups. You get 10g of product too which is great for such a dinky palette. It works out at around 1.66g per colour, for comparison a shadow in the UD Naked palette is 1.3g

Now I do love me a good blusher and this one did not disappoint. It’s just beautiful, again this swatch is just one swipe so it’s super pigmented, not so great if you are really heavy handed when it comes to blush but they are really blendable and you only need the smallest amount meaning this will last you ages.

Firstly, with the lipstick, the case is magnetized so when you go to put the lid on it automatically closes. I love this. The packaging feels really sturdy, I would happily throw this in my bag and not worry about the lid coming off and getting lipstick over everything I own.

The formula is really creamy, again the swatch below is one swipe. The shape of the bullet makes it really easy to apply and the quilted print on the lipstick is rather cute, although this does go away on first swipe.

I don’t have anything good or bad to say about this brush. I have another one which came with my porcelain foundation but I could never get it to work for me. I’m not sure if it’s the brush itself or if I’m just doing it wrong but I just can’t seem to get it to apply like they do on TV. I just use my own brushes for  applying the foundation and it works just fine. Like I said, it may just be me not using it right so don’t let that put you off.

You can buy this set from QVC here, it is priced at £60.00 and postage is £4.95
